Richard Lynn Taylor, 78, Of Red Hook

RED HOOK, N.Y. -- Richard Lynn Taylor, of Red Hook, died July 31. He was 78.

He is the younger son of Leonard Taylor and Ruth C. Scofield and was raised in Monrovia.

He married his high school sweetheart and attended Occidental College then went on to earn a PhD at the University of Oregon. He enjoyed solving puzzles, creating animations and was one of the early adopter of computers, ranging from the mainframes of the 1970s to writing code for the "Choplifter" video game.

He loved to travel and explore food from all over the world. He and his family lived abroad and on both coasts and he retired to the Hudson Valley to be near his grandchildren.

Funeral services were private.
