HYDE PARK, N.Y. – Richard A. Ryan, a longtime Hyde Park resident, died Friday, March 4. He was 73.
Ryan served in Vietnam as a heavy equipment operator with the United States Army 538th Engineer Battalion. He was also a member of Teamsters Local #445. He was a truck driver for Sun-Up Enterprises for many years until his retirement. During his career, he also drove for Spoor Lasher, Brewster Transit Mix, and Effron Fuel among others. He was a member of the Suydam Rod & Gun Club in Ancram; Vail Wolff - McKenna Frye VFW Post in Poughkeepsie, and the Poughkeepsie American Legion Post #1466. He was a lifemember of the Crum Elbow Sportsmen's Assoc., Hyde Park, and former member of Roger's Point Boat Club, Hyde Park. He also attended Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park.
He is survived by his two sons, Edward F. Ryan and his fiancée, Doreen Erlwein, Hyde Park and Patrick A. Ryan, of Hyde Park; his granddaughter, Caroline E. Ryan, of Hyde Park; and several cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife, Carol and his uncle, Edward Mantai.
