HYDE PARK — Michael E. Day, 43, of Hyde Park, died Wednesday, Oct. 19.

He was born Oct. 6, 1973 in Rhinebeck, the son of George and Judith Myron Day. His parents survive in Staatsburg.

A lifetime area resident, Day was a member of the Staatsburg Fire Department and a volunteer with the Hyde Park Fire Department for several years. As a trained EMT, he worked for Alamo Ambulance, Northern Dutchess Paramedics and Emergency Control. He truly loved his job, and his passion was helping people.

An avid golfer, he loved sports. He also loved his family and friends and always was there for them. He was known for his generous spirit.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Jamie; children, Brianna and Braidan Day; brother, George Day and wife Eileen; twin brother, Brian Day and companion, Trish Berry; sister-in-law, Janeen Sonnenberg and husband Paul; nieces and nephews, George, Aiden, Kyra, Shaelyn, Brian, Tyler, Trevor and Trista Lee; uncles, Will Day and wife Lois, Richard Day and wife Sharon, and William Myron and wife Pat; aunts, Karen Myron and wife Pam, Peggy Sanchez, Nancy Myron, Bunny Devine and Marian Myron; and many cousins.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Edward and Lavina Day; maternal grandparents, Thomas Myron Sr. and Rose Myron; uncles, Jimmy and Thomas Myron; aunt, Noreen Staffa; and mother-in-law, Kristine Oetjen.

Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Sweet's Funeral Home Inc., Route. 9, Hyde Park. Fire department services will be at 6 p.m. during the calling hours. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday at St. James' Episcopal Church, Route. 9, Hyde Park. The Rev. Chuck Kramer will officiate. Burial will follow in the family plot at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
