Joseph Michael Eckhard Sr., a lifelong resident of Hyde Park, died at home on Sunday, Jan. 21. He was 46.

He was born Jan. 6, 1972, graduated FDR High School in 1991, and then BOCES Tech for Mechanics.

Joey had a love for the fast life of cars, motorcycles, quads and snowmobiles. He spent many days in his garage surrounded by friends wrenching on their “Toys.”

He also enjoyed watching movies, swimming and building things with his children. Joey was blessed with a large family that consisted of cousins that were like siblings and friends that were family. His laughter and smile will be deeply missed by so many that will always remember him as Joe Joe, Joey Eggroll, Joe Joe Dancer and Daddy <3.

Joseph is predeceased by his mother Debbie Lee Eckhard; grandparents Willard and Mary Eckhard and William and Gloria Dakin and Uncle Steve Howard.

Joe is survived by his wife Lanee DeGarmo-Eckhard and their six children: Jacob, Justice, Lucas, Hannah Lee , Joseph Jr., Trent and Isabella; grandparents Alan and Joan Mooers; father Willard Eckhard; brother Garrett (Deidre) Eckhard; sister Tonya (Thomas) Dalbo and their daughter Ivy, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. to noon. A reception will follow at West Clinton Firehouse, 219 Hollow Rd., in Staatsburg, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Arrangements are being handled by Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home Inc. 39 S. Hamilton St. in Poughkeepsie.
