MILLERTON, N.Y. -- John Anthony Bruno, a longtime Millerton resident, formerly of New Hyde Park, died Friday, Dec. 11. He was 89.

A U.S. Army veteran, Bruno worked as an oil burner technician for Petro Fuel Oil in Queens for 45 years prior to his retirement.

Bruno was an avid reader. He also enjoyed attending his grandson’s baseball games and watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears.

He is survived by Vilma (Bernardon) of Millerton, his wife of 63 years; his son John Bruno and his wife Robin of Livingston; his son William Bruno of Massapequa; his daughter Lisa Napolitano and her husband Joseph of Millerton; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and nephew Andrew Bruno.

Bruno is predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Columbia (Blasucci) Bruno; his brother Anthony and and his wife Emma; and his daughter-in-law, Maddie Bruno.
