HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- Janet H. Stedman, of Hyde Park, died Wednesday, Nov. 2. She was 85.
She was born Sept. 2, 1931, in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Helen Czech Petty. She was a graduate of Hyde Park schools and St. John's Riverside Hospital School of Nursing in Yonkers. For a brief time, her and her family resided in Seattle, Washington, and she was always fond of their time there. She was a Registered Nurse at St. Francis Hospital for twenty-five years. She was also a Nurse Manager at the Victory Lake Nursing Center in Hyde Park.
On September 11, 1954 at the former Hedding Methodist Church in Poughkeepsie, she married William Stedman. Mr. Stedman survives at home.
She is survived by her husband, William; two sons, William E. Stedman, and Robert P. Stedman, and his companion, Patti Morrison; granddaughter, Janet Allmendinger; and brother, Edward Petty. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two infant sons, David Wayne and David James Stedman.
There will be no calling hours. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family burial will take place at the family's convenience. Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
