Horton 'Bucky' Tucker, 86, Hyde Park Resident

HYDE PARK, N.Y. – Horton “Bucky” Tucker, of Hyde Park, died Tuesday, Feb. 23 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. He was 86.

He was born March 30, 1929, in Susquehanna, Pa., to Reed and Ruth Tucker. He was a graduate of Union Endicott High School in Vestal, N.Y., and served in the U.S. Army from 1946-48. 

On Dec. 29, 1950, in Binghamton, N.Y., he married Susan Fabrizio. 

He worked for John Arborio and Dutchess Quarry, and was member of Operating Engineers Local 106 for 40 years. He and his wife moved to Hyde Park in 1963, and did volunteer work with the Vagabond Drum Corps (former president), the Hyde Park Lions Club (past president), Hyde Park American Legion #1303 and many other community organizations.

In addition to his wife, Susan, he is survived by his sons, Reed Tucker of Poughkeepsie, and Greg Tucker and wife, Joanne, of Rhinebeck; grandchildren Stephanie Tucker and Jesse and Kaylynn Tucker; great-granddaughter Jessica Croshier; brothers Robert Tucker, Paul Tucker and wife, Janice, James Tucker and wife, Janice, and David Tucker and wife, Judy; sister Sandra Watson; and sisters-in-law Viola Hulbert and Melanie Fabrizio.

He was predeceased by his brothers Alvin and Edwin Tucker; and sisters Charlotte Space and Dorothy Rhodes.

Calling hours are Saturday from 2-6 p.m. at Sweet's Funeral Home, Route 9, Hyde Park. A prayer service will be offered at 2 p.m. and the Hyde Park American Legion will conduct services at 5 p.m. Funeral services are Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel in Johnson City, N.Y. Entombment will follow.

His family requests memorial donations to the American Heart Association, 301 Manchester Road, Suite 105, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
