HYDE PARK, N.Y. – Gustav J. "Gus" Richard, a longtime Hyde Park resident, died on Friday, May 27, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 88.
Richard was born on Feb. 4, 1928, to Leo and Marguerite Monahan Richard.
He served in the Navy. He was a retired union electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in 1990.
He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy (Bartlett).
Richard is survived by his eight children, Patrick, Michael, Peter, Mary Eileen, Kathleen, Timothy, Daniel, and Christopher; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and three siblings, Albert, Marguerite and Bill.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Sweet's Funeral Home Inc., on Route 9 in Hyde Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Regina Coeil Church, Route 9 in Hyde Park.
Interment will be in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.
