RHINEBECK, N.Y. – Gordon E. Briggs, a resident of Rhinebeck, died Monday, June 27. He was 82.
He was born June 4, 1934, in Rhinebeck, to Augustus and Frances (Wetzler) Briggs.
On Dec. 21, 1954, he married Marcella (Clarke) Briggs. He served as corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was employed at IBM from 1955 until his retirement in 1992.
His wife died in 2012.
He is survived by his children, Bonnie and Heather Briggs of Germantown, Thomas (Vicki) Briggs of Tillson, and Matthew (Cathy) Briggs of Tivoli; and four grandchildren, Kyle, Cortny, Cody Sudziarski, and Kristin Denu.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Caitlin; and two brothers John and Royal.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 29, 4-7 p.m. at the Dapson Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck. Interment with military honors will be in the Saratoga National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
