HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- Eleanor Burns, 91, a longtime Staatsburg/Clinton Corners resident, died Thursday, Dec. 17, at her home in Landis, N.C.
She was born on her family farm in Staatsburg to Henry and Emily Delaney Osterhoudt; she was one of 12 children.
Burns was a homemaker, secretary for Burns Construction for 30 years, and a bookkeeper for 20 years for the former Perlmutter Furniture Co. in Poughkeepsie.
Burns is survived by two sons, Thomas T. Burns (Rose) and Jeffrey G. Burns (Carol); daughter, Pamela Burns Hawks (Gene); nine grandchildren, Sean Burns, Tara Newell (Hal), Keith Miller (Kelly), Lance Miller (Tammy), Jolene Henning (Keith), April Hart; Kevin Burns; Mark Burns (Jean); nine great-grandchildren, Patrick, Aaron, Christina, Makayla, Dalton, Gavin, Eleanor, Maddie Jean, and Sadie.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Drena M. Burns and a son, Gary Floyd Burns.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Route 9. Funeral Services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the family plot in Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Town of Clinton.
Flowers will be accepted, but if you would rather make a donation, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice.
