Edward P. Strieder, 77, Of Red Hook

RED HOOK, N.Y. -- Edward P. Strieder, of Red Hook, died on Saturday, April 1. He was 77.

Born on May 2, 1939, in Queens, Edward was the son of the late Philip Albert and Elizabeth (Walters) Strieder. He served his county and community throughout his life. He began his military career in the US Air Force in 1959 and retired from the US Army – National Guard as a CW2 in 1990. He served his community as a member of the New York State Police. He attained the rank of Zone Sergeant with Troop K and retired after 25 years.

In addition to his loving wife, Helen Strieder of Red Hook, Edward is survived by his children, Jim and Mary Strieder of Red Hook, Marilyn and Mark English of Red Hook, and Margaret and Scott Lewis of Red Hook,his step children, Kathy and Allan Jennings of North Carolina, Thomas and Amy Conley of Lee Center,  and Cindy and Mike Blum of Tivoli, his grandchildren, Tamara, Philip, Matthew, Kyle, Lauren, Owen, Sean, Jack, Ian, Summer, Sarah, and Bradley.

Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Wednesday, April 5 from 2 - 4 and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, at St. Christopher's Church in Red Hook. Father Patrick Buckley will officiate. Burial will be at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.

Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
