Dorothy P. Drake, 97, Of Hyde Park

HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- Dorothy P. Drake, of Hyde Park, died Wednesday, Nov. 16. Se was 97.

Born in 1919, in Rome, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Jessie and E. LeRoy Parry. 

On June 28, 1947, she married Emerson R. Drake, who predeceased her in 2002. 

She graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1937 and William Smith College in 1941. Following graduation, she taught English and languages in the Rome School District. She also volunteered with the American Red Cross from 1945-46 at England General Hospital in Atlantic City, N.J.. A resident of Hyde Park since 1948, she was a communicant of St. James' Episcopal Church and formerly a member of the Altar Guild. She also volunteered at Vassar Brothers Hospital and had been a member of the Hyde Park Historical Society, as well as a friend of the Hyde Park library.

She is survived by two daughters, Patty and Barbara; and one son, Parry.

Friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday at St. James' Episcopal Church, Route 9, Hyde Park. Father Chuck Kramer will officiate. Burial will be private.
