Dorcas H. Brower, 95, Longtime Pleasant Valley Resident

PLEASANT VALLEY, N.Y. -- Longtime Pleasant Valley resident Dorcas H. Brower died on Sunday, Jan. 31. She was 95.

She was born in Sharon, Conn., to James and Margaret Hutchinson Honour.

Brower was a rural postal carrier for U.S. Postal Service in Pleasant Valley for 31 years. She retired in 1982.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, in Pleasant Valley, and a member of Ralph T. Waterman Bird Club. 

Brower is survived by her children David Brower of Arizona; Nancy Heriegel and her husband Mert of Florida; Kathleen Blackwell and her husband, Rory of Hyde Park; and Peter Brower and his wife, Gayle of Pleasant Valley; grandchildren Jefferey, Christian and Aaron Brower, Sam Heriegel, Christine Solberg, Rory Blackwell Jr. and Raegan Lopez; 12 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law Joyce Brower of Pleasant Valley.

She was predeceased by her son, George Brower.

Visiting hours will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., in Pleasant Valley. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at First Presbyterian Church, 1576 Main St., in Pleasant Valley. Interment will follow in Washington Hollow Cemetery, in Pleasant Valley.
