Deirdre Kamilia Maria Fisher, 69, Of Rhinebeck

RHINEBECK, N.Y. -- Deirdre Kamilia Maria Fisher, a longtime Rhinebeck resident, died on Tuesday, March 7. She was 69.

She was born in Broughty Ferry (Dundee), Scotland, to the late Jan Bartlomiej and Diana Beattie Kapsa, and was raised in Toronto.

She attended the University of Guelph and was a nurse and medical administrator at Toronto General Hospital before becoming a Montessori teacher. She also founded two Montessori schools in Canada.

She founded Hudson Valley Children and the Rhinebeck Parkinson's Support Group and was also the director of the Peace Pals program of the World Peace Prayer Society.

In addition to her husband, Stephen George; and two sons, Ian Richard and Gareth Stephen, she is survived by her daughters-in-law Csilla Zsuzsanna and Maura Eileen; grandsons Oscar Richard and Thomas Kane; granddaughter Anna Catherine; nephew Andrew Edward Watkins Kapsa; and step-daughters Toya Dubin and Jennifer Luisa Lafin Fisher.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 10, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 West Market St., Rhinebeck.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 11, at the Church of the Messiah, 436 Montgomery St., Rhinebeck

A reception will follow.

Burial will in the Rhinebeck Cemetery, 3 Mill Road.
