The quick-moving storm that is dumping heavy rain and bringing strong winds to Dutchess has resulted in road closures and power outages.

Approximately two dozen trees and wires are down with 5,000-plus without power in Dutchess as of 7 p.m. Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads if possible as the storm passes.

Three closures reported are in Red Hook and because of downed telephone poles and wires. The closures are: South Broadway between Garden Street and Fraleigh Street, Fish Street Yantz Road near Sunrise Drive and Station Hill Road.

Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads if possible as the storm passes, County Executive Marc Molinaro said.
