PLEASANT VALLEY, N.Y. -- Despite a fund balance of $1.5 million, the Town of Pleasant Valley has decided to exceed the state cap on the property tax levy, according to a report in the Poughkeepsie Journal.
This means, that taxpayers will see an increase of 0.837 percent and will not be able to receive rebates from the state this year, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported, .
The town is putting money away for future expenditures, including a salt storage shed and a reserve fund for retired employees, instead of using it to stay under the cap, the Poughkeepsie Journal said
