A four-alarm fire that broke out Saturday on the 2600 block of East Main Street (Route 9D) in Wappingers Falls spread to multiple businesses and dwellings, causing heavy damage to the building, which is now uninhabitable. (Check the drone photo via the Hughsonville Fire Department above.)

The blaze was finally knocked down just before 8 p.m. although firefighters had to contain some rekindling of the fire early Sunday morning.

No injuries were reported.

Route 9D was closed to traffic for hours after the fire broke out just before 3 p.m.

"Our thoughts go to those affected, Mayor (Matt) Alexander and the entire Village of Wappingers Falls," Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said.
