RED HOOK, N.Y. -- After more than 10 years of work, a replica of Charles Lindbergh's Sprit of St. Louis will be unveiled on Saturday, May 21, at the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome in Red Hook, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.
The aerodrome, which showcases vintage, early 20th-century planes, said that in addition to having such a significant piece to add to the fleet, the Spirit of St. Louis will also help draw tourists to the area. The plane will be flown during aerodrome air shows from mid-June to mid-October, said the Poughkeepsie Journal.
The replica will be unveiled on the 89th anniversary of Lindbergh’s arrival in Paris, during a gala celebration that will include a visit by Lindbergh's granddaughter and grandson, added the Poughkeepsie Journal.
