An officer with the department for 17 years, Beaulieu, the father of three young girls, underwent emergency surgery at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh and is expected to make a full recovery.

According to friends, Beaulieu is the type of person who would do anything to help other people. Now, he finds himself in need as the medical and regular household bills begin to mount as he recovers.

To help, his friend Hyde Park and Village of Fishkill Police Office Joe Wasilewski has started a GoFundMe page to raise money for the struggling police officer who he said, inspired him to start the effort due to Beaulieu's love for others and his compassion for public service.

"I personally am friends with Mike, he is the type of person that would do anything for anybody. He cares so much about people and for his community," Wasilewski said. "I feel that at his true time of need, we the public now need to assist a person that’s always been there to assist us."

Beaulieu has limited health insurance because he is self-employed as his primary job.

With Christmas right around the corner, and with limited income as well as the astronomical medical bills, he needs our help, Wasilewski added.
