Zoe’s Ice Cream Barn, Lagrangeville
The Scoop: It's all about local at one -year-old (ish) Zoe's where the commitment is to dairy farmers at Hudson Valley Fresh and the motto is “36 hours from cow to store." All ice cream is homemade -- they even do homemade waffle cones. You'll find a rotating assortment of hard ice cream as well as soft ice cream, along with a host of homemade toppings.
More than that, you'll find a love of the product and to the land from the father/daughter owners behind Zoe's. Bob Ferris is a long-time farmer, realtor and town judge, whose family has been in the dairy business in Dutchess County since the 1800s. His youngest daughter Katie, with the nickname "Zoe," is a pastry chef trained at the renowned Culinary Institute of America.
