Hyde Park Historical Society To Discuss Gilded Age

HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- The Town of Hyde Park Historical Society is to meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26 at the Hyde Park United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall at Route 9 and Church Street, according to a statement from the group.

The Franklin D. Roosevelt Library and Museum will be the site of the May 1 Eleanor Roosevelt Knit-In.

Don Fraser of the Staatsburgh Historic Site (Mills Mansion) is scheduled to air a DVD and discuss the Gilded Age scandals.

Refreshments will be served after the meeting. All are welcome to attend the free event.

The Historical Society also is taking reservations for the May 1 Eleanor Roosevelt Knit-In at the Henry A. Wallace Center at the FDR Presidential Library & Home. The knit-in is a fundraiser for the society.

In other news, the society has issued a second edition of "Mrs. Frederick W. Vanderbilt," a book by Gail Lennox. The book is on sale for $22 and can be mailed directly to your home for the added cost of shipping.
